Major John Hamilton

Major John E. Hamilton, Jr., has served the Laurel Police Department since 1999 and has risen through the ranks. During his time with the department, he has held roles in a variety of leadership positions to include Acting Chief of Police. Major Hamilton currently oversees the Chief’s Executive Staff.
Major Hamilton has served as the commander in charge of the Special Operations Bureau and the Investigative Bureau. He has also overseen the Community Engagement Unit, Evidence Unit, Traffic Unit, and the Crisis Negotiations Unit.
Major Hamilton attended the University of the District of Columbia majoring in Mortuary Science and minoring Criminology. He is an active member of the greater Laurel community and has received numerous commendations and awards from the department and the community while serving the City of Laurel.
Captain Brad DiPietro

Captain Brad Di Pietro currently serves as the Laurel Police Department's Uniformed Patrol Bureau commander, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department's largest bureau. Before taking command of the Patrol Bureau, Captain Di Pietro commanded the department's Investigations Bureau and the Office of Professional Standards.
Captain Di Pietro joined the Laurel Police Department in May 2005, working in police communications, before attending the Prince George's County Municipal Police Academy. Captain Di Pietro has served in numerous roles as a member of the Laurel Police Department, including detective, detective and patrol supervisor, crash reconstructionist, and instructor, among multiple other extra-duty assignments.
Captain Brad Di Pietro was born and raised in Laurel, Maryland, graduating in 2000 from Saint Vincent Pallotti High School. He attended Mount Saint Mary's University in Emmittsburg, Maryland, graduating in 2004 with a degree in Sociology.
Captain Stephen Ivory

Captain Stephen Ivory has been an officer with the Laurel Police Department since 2003. He attended school at the University of Delaware before moving to Maryland and joining the department. During his career, Captain Ivory has served as an officer and supervisor in both the Patrol Division and the Criminal Investigations Division. Captain Ivory was also trained by the FBI as a crisis negotiator and has served on the Laurel Police Department’s Crisis Negotiations Team. Throughout his career, Captain Ivory has been afforded numerous opportunities to receive specialized training in areas such as homicide investigation, interview and interrogation techniques, digital forensics, and investigative case management.
In his current role as the Laurel Police Department’s Administrative Services Bureau Commander, Captain Ivory manages Internal Affairs, Policy and Planning, and Information Technology. Captain Ivory oversees all investigations into complaints of police misconduct, and personally conducts the investigations involving serious allegations of wrongdoing by officers.
Captain Erik Lynn

Captain Erik Lynn currently serves as the Laurel Police Department's Special Operations Bureau commander. Prior to taking command of Special Operations, Captain Lynn commanded the Uniformed Patrol Bureau, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the department's largest bureau.
Captain Lynn joined the Laurel Police Department in July 2003 after graduating from the Maryland Police Corps Academy in Linthicum , Maryland. Captain Lynn has served in numerous roles as a member of the Laurel Police Department. He served as a patrol officer, a detective, as well as a supervisor in both divisions. Captain Lynn was the team leader of the Emergency Response Team, team leader for the Honor Guard Unit, and an instructor for the police department. Captain Lynn is also the central region coordinator for the Maryland Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
Captain Erik Lynn was born and raised in Danville, Pennsylvania. He attended The Pennsylvania State University, graduating in 2001 with a degree in Administration of Justice with a minor in Sociology. Captain Lynn served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 2001-2007, serving one tour in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Captain Jordan Perretta

Captain Jordan Perretta joined the Laurel Police Department on June 30th, 2001. He is currently the Investigations Bureau Commander overseeing all the investigative units for the Laurel Police Department. During the 22 years working for the Laurel Police Department, Captain Perretta has been assigned or commanded every unit or bureau within the agency. Early in his career, Captain Perretta was assigned as a narcotics investigator and a member of the Emergency Response Team. He worked his way up through the Emergency Response Team to Assistant Team Leader for several years. Captain Perretta as a supervisor, led the drug unit, the Criminal Investigations Unit, and later revamped the Internal Affairs unit. Captain Perretta’s favorite assignment over the years was Hiring and Recruitment as he is responsible for hiring a large portion of our officers.
Captain Perretta is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, with a Bachelor of Science in Criminology, where he graduated cum laude. He also received a minor in Spanish. Captain Perretta also graduated from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania Police Academy in 2000.
In his off time, Captain Perretta is a certified coach for Special Olympics Maryland where he leads a county Powerlifting team and is an assistant Track and Field coach. He has also been a wrestling coach for the past nine years from junior wrestling leagues to high school wrestling. His wife was born and raised in Prince George’s County and they have two children.
