Site work Permit Application – A sitework permit (separate from the building permit) application shall be submitted via the online permit portal.

Required with permit application submittal:

  1. Approved site plan shall be uploaded as a single PDF file.
  2. A cost estimate on letterhead, signed and sealed by an Engineer licensed in the State of Maryland shall be uploaded as a PDF file. Note: A bond will be required and all bond information will be provided by the Department of Economic and Community Development.
  3. Prince George’s County Storm Water Management Approved Plans and Permit shall be uploaded as one single PDF file. 
  4. Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) Approved Water and Sewer Plans and Permit shall be uploaded as one single PDF file.

Economic & Community Development

    The Department of Economic and Community Development maintains and oversees the built environment within the City of Laurel. The department is responsible for zoning compliance, subdivision and development review, historic preservation review, economic development, affordable housing, and implementation of the City’s Master Plan. These activities are intended to improve the life quality in the City. Department staff strive to provide these services in a timely and efficient manner while promoting high-quality development which is compliant with State of Maryland regulations and statutes.  

Fire Marshal & Permit Services

The Department of the Fire Marshal and Permit Services (FMPS) is divided into two Divisions who are responsible for the management and enforcement of the City’s codes and ordinances as it relates to wide range of areas, to include building and property standards, fire and life safety standards, rental housing licenses and permitting services.
