Purpose
Beautification of our neighborhoods in the City. To recognize those that reside in neighborhoods that keep their properties up to code and beautifies their property.
Program Description
The Mayor’s Golden Shovel Award allows residents to show pride in where they reside. Nominations may be made by contacting the Mayor’s office either by phone, email or letter. Nominations can now also be submitted through the City of Laurel website by filling out the form below. You can even upload a photo of the property you’re nominating. The following information should be provided if possible; Location of property, owner, phone number of the owner, what type of improvements were done. The person who makes the nomination must provide their name and phone number. Members of the City Council and City staff may make nominations as well. This award is only open to residential properties in the City.

The following information should be provided if possible; name, phone number, and email address of property owner/tenant and description of improvements made to the property. The property address is required. The person who makes the nomination must provide their name, phone number and email address. Members of the City Council and City staff may make nominations as well. Judging takes place the third week of each month of April – September. This award is only open to residential properties in the City.
