When do City elections occur? 

Regular City Elections

The City of Laurel holds an election every two years on the first Tuesday in November of the odd year.  The Mayor serves a four (4) year term and the City Council serves a two (2) year term.  The next General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

Who can vote in City elections?

Voting in City Elections

Every person eighteen (18) years of age or better that is registered with the Prince George’s County Board of Election Supervisors and is a resident of the City of Laurel is eligible to vote in all City elections.

How do I register to vote?

Voter Registration

You can register to vote at the State Board of Elections at www.elections.state.md.us or the Prince George's County Board of Elections at www.princegeorgescountymd.gov.

When and where can I vote?

The next General Election is scheduled for Tuesday, November 7, 2023.

There are a few different ways that you can vote in City elections:

Early Voting

Early Voting for the City of Laurel General Election will take place on Saturday, November 4, 2023 9:00am-5:00pm at the following locations:

Ward 1 Residents- Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD

Ward 2 Residents- Robert J. DiPietro Community Center, 7901 Cypress Street, Laurel, MD

Voting In-Person

In-Person voting for election day will take place on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 7:00am-8:00pm.

Ward 1 Residents- Laurel Municipal Center, 8103 Sandy Spring Road, Laurel, MD

Ward 2 Residents- Robert J. DiPietro Community Center, 7901 Cypress Street, Laurel, MD

On Early Voting Day and Election Day, voters wishing to vote in-person may do so only at the polling place located within the voting ward that they currently live in. Can I Vote by Mail-In Ballot?

Yes, you can vote by mail-in ballot. Contact the Board of Election Supervisors to request an application for a Mail-In ballot at [email protected] or call the Clerk to the Board of Elections at 301-725-5300, extension 2121.
