History 

The City of Laurel Education Advisory Committee was created and established by Ordinance No. 5-18, passed by the Mayor and City Council on September 24, 2018. The Committee is made up of eleven (11)  members; five (5) City of Laurel residents; two (2) members of a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) in the greater Laurel area; two (2) members of the general public; one (1) member of the City Council and one (1) member of the greater Laurel area business community, appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council. 

 

Authority

This Committee is charged with strengthening the relationship between the City, Prince George's County Board of Education, local schools and organizations providing educational services to students in the City of Laurel and greater Laurel area. The committee will help the City identify positive and meaningful opportunities to influence student achievement. 

 

Meetings

The Committee will meet on April 15, 2019, 7 p.m. at the Laurel Armory Anderson & Murphy Community Center located at 422 Montgomery Street, Laurel, Maryland 20707
